Living life as a male cat is not easy. One need to make sure his limited territory well guarded. This little cat own my home and few lots near by. He was born and raised on top my roof top and move occasionally to avoid another male cat by his mother.
Now, her mother no more protect her and i always worried about his safety from other big male cat. Surprisingly, after few late night duel with other old cat, he hold his guard pretty well.
Occasionally, mother cat come back for a visit. He greeted mother cat with a weak squeaky voice. i knew he really miss her a lot.
It is not easy to take photo and video in the same time especially in high speed event. I can’t really fully focus on the subject that needed to photographed or capture in video. At least i tried my best and the result is not as bad as i thought. The polo match was short but i took one day to only play four games. The reason to be given is that the horse need to rest and cannot be push over the limit. Basically, one game only lasted for about 15 minutes and in 2 games. I’m not really using the terminology of the games because I don’t have a clue what it called. To know more about the game, please read it at wikipedia.
This is the first match team. I was told it is a novice team. Some rules doesn’t apply in this match so, it will be an advantages for the seasonal or veteran player.
For this shot, i use a 70-300mm zoom lens. Luckily the light is bright and my the shuttle speed is high and even without a VR (Vibration Reduction) for this lens, it turn out quite well. Panning for the horse is a bit tricky because the ball is so small and sometimes i snap horse that running for nothing.
Second half in first match
The second match is among the veteran and seasonal player. The rules are stricter and the horse needed to run more to being coped with the game. The player needs more skill in hitting and handling the ball. To hit the ball while riding the horse is not an easy task and need lots of training in riding skills.

Last, some compilation of the video polo match.
I has an opportunity to cover photo and video polo match recently last week (15 December 2007). This is quite different because most of my jobs are more on weddings and not worried too much about the task. This job is quite new to me because i needed to snap photo and doing a video shot together at the same time. Luckily i managed to hook up my friend to assist me on that day.
I didn’t sleep on the night before the event because of my different sleep pattern and i needed to wake up early to travel to the horse track field in tuaran. I never knew there is a new horse track in Tuaran that never being used.
I will not write about the events in details, but only to show some horse and some others photos I took during that day. My first impression on the horse stable is old and under maintained. The horses look messy but my friend told me that before it is even worst. Taking care a horse stable is not an easy task because it is so complicated to do plus the expenses is high. That is why few people can own a horse even to play polo.
I brought two digital cameras and one video camera on that day. I felt that two digital cameras are necessary because of the limitation one lens can do. By having two cameras fitted with two different lenses, one can snap more variety of photos instantly without keep changing lenses during the work. I started with 50mm f1.8 lens to take some portrait of these horses. I sense their shyness towards me when i pointing the camera towards them.
Later, when they know what i am doing, they just continue with their routine. At least they are not running away for my camera as most did in my wedding jobs.
This horse basically getting used me snapping his photo. It looks like he trying hard to pose for my camera. Luckily he didn’t bite my camera as i was pointing the lens so close to his nose and mouth.
A worker gave the horse a bath after the match.

I will post up photos of the polo match on my next post.
I was looking back some of my old photo and found few photos of a dog. Most of the shot taken at my home. Most of girls like dog. I don’t know why but they sure get excited when looking at a dog photos and don’t mention the real one. From cute puppy dog to fierce Doberman and rotwiller.
